20% off - Cool Slip * Patina Gel * SLIKToday through April 11th, Save 20% off Cool Tools Patina Gel, Cool Slip and SLIK.

Cool Tools Patina Gel is liver of sulfur in a stabilized gel form. Not only is it the most convenient, easiest way to use liver of sulfur, but amazingly it does not degrade in light and air the way dry and liquid liver of sulfur does.

Spray Cool Slip on textures and tools before use for crisp, stick-free impressions. Use as a spray or brush on. Non-toxic and non-reactive. Perfect for Metal Clay.

Cool Tools Slik is the balm made just for metal clay. It’s smooth and silky, not sticky like olive-oil based balms. Made from all natural ingredients like pure soy, almond and aloe, Slik works like magic on hands, textures, tools, work surfaces, polymer molds and rubber stamps.

No Promo Code Needed. Order today – Offer ends Monday, April 11th at midnight CDT.

Artist Statement:
I have spent most of my life in a love affair with craft. My journey started when, as a child, I learned to crochet. After many doilies and two children, I graduated to creating wearable art in free form crochet. Along the way I learned to spin yarn, weave cloth, and to dye anything in sight. I started a business, “North Shore Weavers” that supplied the interior design industry with hand woven custom sofa throws, wall hangings and pillows. A serious shoulder injury ended my weaving days but my hands would not be denied. I had always liked to include beads in my crochet and weaving, so there was a natural progression to jewelry design.

It was at this point that I discovered a relatively new product called “metal clay”. It seemed like magic. I could take a lump of this clay-like substance, form it, dry it and fire it in a kiln and come away with a piece of jewelry made of pure silver. As soon as possible, I got my certification as a metal clay instructor from PMC Connection and have been teaching ever since. I love the freedom that this material offers. I can create jewelry in fine (pure) silver, sterling (92.5%) silver, copper, bronze and various other metals.

I am especially influenced by the beautiful stones that nature provides, textile designs from the bronze age, the world of high fashion and, of course, nature.

New Videos by Lisel Crowley

Lisel Crowley

Lisel Crowley

Cool Tools was delighted to host Connecticut Metal Clay Artist and Instructor, Lisel Crowley recently. While here in the midwest, Lisel took the time to visit the Cool Tools Studio to film several new videos for our video library. The first video, already released, features Lisel creating one of a kind textures using Scratch Foam and Xiem stylus tools. We will soon release two additional videos that showcase Lisel’s talents and artistic style; Her Embrace Setting video that marries a dichroic glass gemstone with her own unique take on a metal clay setting, and her Art Nouveau pendant, which showcases her artistic style and a cool new template, designed to easily create a metal clay bezel for a cz, glass cabochon or other fireable stone.

We first met Lisel in August of this year when she hosted the 2nd Metal Clay Mojo Conference in Chester Connecticut. Lisel brought together a wonderful group of artists and talented instructors from the US, the UK, the Netherlands, Poland and beyond. In addition to being the creator and organizer of the Metal Clay Mojo Conference, Lisel is also the founder and director of the Metal clay Artisan Guild in Connecticut. Building community and furthering artistic excellence in metal clay is a passion for Lisel, who strives to provide continued support and mentoring for her students and fellow metal clay artists.

A self described “creativity addict,” Lisel also likes to work with fused glass, alcohol ink painting and silk dyeing. She loves engaging in the creativity process and is constantly trying new media, techniques and styles. Her work has been featured in The Crafts Report (now Handmade Business), Art Jewelry Magazine and Easy Metal Clay. For a complete listing of Lisel’s upcoming classes and workshops, check out her website at liselcrowley.com.
