My latest designs are hammering out old silver coins with a steampunk attitude.

Congratulations to Linda Chavez, the winner of the Cool Tools Random Review Contest. Linda has won a $100 gift certificate for reviewing the Cool Tools Cool Slip she purchased. Linda gave our Cool Slip a great review and said ” I used this product recently while creating an Art Copper Clay pendant using a texture plate. The clay comes right off the texture plate without leaving any copper residue behind. Great product.”.
Linda was excited and told us a little about herself:
“VERY exciting! First of all…..thank you so much!
I started beading about 8 years ago and found myself loving the craft. From simple stringing to beading with needle and thread, I was obsessed. Then I found metal! Metal wire, sheet metal, brass and my all time favorite….copper. Before trying PMC I was obsessed with torch fire enamel thanks to Barbara Lewis’ Painting with Fire workshop and book. There’s something about playing with the torch that makes you feel empowered. I’d always been afraid to even be near one!
About three months ago I became interested in Precious Metal Clay and while at the Tucson Bead Show in February, my wish list included tools and items used with this medium. I took an on-line class through Craftsy on Torch Fired Precious Metal Clay by Jenny Vestal. There were many tools I didn’t even think about that the class brought to my attention. Not having purchased all the appropriate tools for this medium, I went to Cool Tools and was amazed at how many items you have for PMC! I haven’ stopped buying yet! lol
One of those items was Cool Slip and when I did the review, I never really thought I would win. I wanted to let the people at Cool Tools know how much I appreciated the offering that is available through them. Cool Slip is awesome and I don’t think there is any product out there that can beat it.
Winning has been exciting for me and I hope that everyone continues to write the reviews of the products they purchase at Cool Tools because reading what another artist thinks of the product really helps in deciding whether to purchase the product or not.
Thank you, Cool Tools!”
After every purchase, you have the opportunity to review your products. Your reviews help fellow jewelry artists better understand the products we offer. You can review any product by simply going to the product page and clicking “write a review”. Each review gives you an entry into our review contest. Help us congratulate Linda!
Congratulations to Alice Roberts, the winner of the Cool Tools Random Review Contest. Alice has won a $100 gift certificate for reviewing the Cool Tools Antique Mold: ‘Star of India’ she purchased. Alice gave the Antique Mold a top 5-Star rating and said ” The design is very beautiful and will add great detail to any jewelry project”.
Alice was excited and told us a little about herself:
“What a surprise! I cannot believe I actually won something! I’m so excited about choosing how to spend my gift certificate! I’ll be torn whether to buy more molds, or tools, I love the antique molds and I’m looking forward to using all the goodies I bought from you last time.
My crafting takes many forms. I like doing wire wrapped jewelry, making necklaces, bracelets, earrings, pendants and rings with wire and beads, and semi-precious gemstones. I make several types of jewelry, things with natural products, like sea shells, coral, pearls, and gemstone beads, and pendants or focals. I also use crystals and lamp-worked glass beads, but rather than stringing everything, mostly I use Sterling Silver, and the non-tarnish sterling, Argentium, gold-filled, silver-filled wire, and I also use Bronze, Brass and Copper in some of my newest creations. I love to use Cloisionne beads and focals, along with other beads. I have just begun using the polymer clay, and the various types of metal clay to work on a separate collection for those. I have taken DVD courses from various sources on different techniques, and have enjoyed learning to work with wire, gemstones, beads, metals and other items. I am continuously learning more and more techniques.
As a lifetime self-taught crafter, I have done many projects in decorative painting, grapevine wreaths, decorations for business and for homes, bazaars, craft fairs, and participated in fundraisers. I have always liked working and making things with my hands. As a child, I learned embroidery, and other crafts, like crochet, etc. As an adult I took Ceramics for several years, making many decorative gifts for family, and friends, and decorative painting classes in the Priscilla Hauser method of decorative painting, and studied many other artists techniques as well in oils, and acrylics. I enjoy painting on things like a wooden chest and discarded metal street signs, mailboxes, and other items and have done a couple of murals for my grandson’s bedroom at his home, and ours. I make items that are usually one of a kind, or a small quantity of items, which are a bit different with the same materials, but mostly I do not make exactly the same thing more than once unless it is a custom order.
I am a native Floridian, transplanted in retirement to southern Georgia, where we love living on a fishing lake in a peaceful neighborhood. This environment is very inspirational. We love watching the waterfowl, and migrating birds, humming birds, and doves, and other wildlife constantly on the lake and on the banks of our back yard.”
After every purchase, you have the opportunity to review your products. Your reviews help fellow jewelry artists better understand the products we offer. You can review any product by simply going to the product page and clicking “write a review”. Each review gives you an entry into our review contest. Help us congratulate Alice!
Congratulations to Donna Muse, the winner of the February Cool Tools Survey Contest. Donna has won a $100 gift certificate simply for offering us her thoughts.
Donna was excited and told us a little about herself:
“Thanks a million-very excited to win and can’t wait to shop.
I am a 5th grade teacher of highly gifted students and got into jewelry making in the fall of 2011 by accident. I had seen some bookmarks made from beads and thought it would be an inexpensive but fun gift to make (little did I know what this would lead to). I was already making Alice In Wonderland crafts for my classroom and had a business, Down the Rabbit Hole. The bookmarks led to beading and Steampunk necklaces for my young family members and then, not satisfied with doing just that, I decided I wanted to make my own findings and focal pieces.
I now do silversmithing with Dan Haga in Matthews, NC, have done the copper with Kim St. Jean, and dabble in polymer and metal clay.
I am 61 years old and will need to teach until I drop over to pay for this “hobby” which I love, and finding most rewarding.”
After every purchase, you receive an email asking you to take a survey. Your thoughts help us improve as a company and better understand your needs. Each month, we select a winner and the next one could be you! Help us congratulation Donna and keep offering us your thoughts!
Congratulations to Neda Heeter, the winner of the Cool Tools Random Review Contest. Neda has won a $100 gift certificate for reviewing the Cool Tools Patina Gel she purchased. Neda gave the Patina Gel a top 5-Star rating and called it ” Easy to Use”.
Neda was excited and told us a little about herself:
“Making jewelry is a very, very new hobby for me. I took one class this spring in Clay Jewelry at our local museum- The Vero Beach Museum of Art- with an excellent teacher, Linda Kline. Unfortunately, there were not enough students signed up for the next set of classes (I live in a seasonal community) so they were suspended until November. I can’t wait for them to resume so I can continue my adventure.
I am not an “artist” but I love jewelry and I had been several times encouraged to try my hand at this class. I had finished a difficult year with the illness and subsequent death of my mom as well as having just completed the second of chairing a major fundraising event for the Homeless Family Center in our town. It felt like a good time to explore a new hobby.
While my “creations” are not particularly unique or special, I find the process extremely relaxing.
Winning the June random drawing was quite a surprise. The gift certificate will help me buy more materials for my new hobby.
Thank you Cool Tools for my $100 gift certificate. I can’t wait to use it.
Attached is a photo of me from my 60th birthday party which I celebrated by holding a party for all the residents of the Homeless Family Center. I’m wearing earrings that I made.
After every purchase, you have the opportunity to review your products. Your reviews help fellow jewelry artists better understand the products we offer. You can review any product by simply going to the product page and clicking “write a review”. Each review gives you an entry into our review contest. A winner is selected every month! Help us congratulate Neda this month.
Congratulations to Louise Musto-Choate, the winner for the Cool Tools Survey Contest for May. Louise has won a $100 Cool Tools gift certificate for taking our survey and offering us some of her thoughts.
Louise was excited and told us a little about herself:
“I am so happy to have won the $100.00 gift certificate this month. Ever since I started using metal clay, Cool Tools has been my number one go to company. I began using PMC3 two years ago after many years of designing one of a kind beaded jewelry; I needed a new interest.
My inspirations come from simple every day natural items such as leaves and twigs to using templates and stamps. When I am on vacation, I bring back my peace and quiet times through my designs and incorporate either beads, stones or cabochons in my pieces. My customers became so interested in how my jewelry is made that once I explained the concept of metal clay, they wanted to learn it as well.
I began teaching classes in October 2010 and offer several different levels. My students are so surprised and happy with their finished pieces, never thinking they could design anything. Many have given them as gifts which is a great compliment to them and me.
My jewelry is shown in several area galleries and open studios throughout the year.
I love that Cool Tools offers so many new products all the time. I will use my gift certificate to assist me in making something beautiful.
After every purchase, you receive an email asking you to fill out a survey to tell us about your experience. We read every comment and your thoughts help us improve as a company. Keep filling out our survey and help us congratulate Louise this month!
Congratulations to Pat Sorlien, the winner of the Cool Tools Random Review Contest for May! Pat has won a $100 Cool Tools gift certificate simply for reviewing a product she purchased.
Pat reviewed a Cool Tools Leaves and Tendrils Texture Tile and said: “Love, love, love. This sheet has become my go-to #1 resource. I am even using it for ring bands: so lovely with bronze clay when it turns green!” Pat was excited about winning and told us a little about herself:
“Thank you so much!!! I am very excited to have been drawn to win this shopping spree. Attached is a photo of me in my shop, plus a few other photos of projects I’ve made with Cool Tools products.
One photo shows a necklace I made with the Leaves and Tendrils pattern impressed into the bronze clay background. I even cut out two of the largest leaves and pasted them on top of the piece for additional texture. Also, I’ve included some other pieces made from your bronze clay, one using one of your antique molds (another personal favorite). I love opening the carbon pan after firing and seeing the beautiful colors, always a surprise and a wonderful treat!!!
As for the ring, I found a drinking glass which had the bug as a detail… (always looking for textures etc). I used Cool Tools Mega Mold to create a mold and this is also one of my favorites. I get lots of compliments on this ring, and people love the Leaves and Tendrils band.
This is my story: 6 yrs ago after a bout with breast cancer (after surgery) I decided to finally do what had been one of my dreams, creating jewelry. I went looking for books, then found Cool Tools on the web, watched Mardel, and fell in love with her video tutorials (another favorite). I’ve learned so much from her and I am constantly watching for new tips and techniques. She is so calm and precise, also I love her name.
You can see from the picture of me that I am into it all: love pounding metal, sawing, piercing, and using heat to create patina, (soldering is sometimes challenging). However metal clay is such a wonderful medium, I love forming, embossing and carving and especially enjoy pre finishing (its like weeding your garden).
Mostly I love creating something beautiful… with all your help!
Thank you Cool Tools!”

Congratulations to Deborah Brooks, the winner of the Cool Tools Survey Contest for April! Deborah has won a $100 gift certificate for taking the time to fill out our survey.
She was excited and told us a little about herself:
“I began my jewelry making experiences 30 years ago using antique silverware and selling my products wholesale and in the last 4 years on Etsy.
When PMC was introduced to the market, I couldn’t wait to try it, as it offered the opportunity for unlimited creativity. I started my journey with PMC 9 years ago and fell in love with it and have been working with it ever since. I have incorporated antique buttons, glass, semi & precious stones plus many other materials with the PMC. I am enjoying recycling jewelry and watch parts to create renewable wearable jewelry.
For the last 23 plus years I have been an instructor with the Great Plains Creative Arts Association. Every April, in Cozad Nebraska, for their 4 day arts camp, I teach the art of working with Metal Clay. My new tools will expand my ability to create and teach.
I often visit Cool Tools and I have already been drooling over the new antique molds.
Some of the items I love are the Slik conditioner and release, Silver Prep, the AlphaDisc along with the Patina Gel makes working with the clay so much easier.
I thoroughly enjoy being asked to design special items for my customers which challenges my imagination and skill. I have just received my first, of hopefully many more certifications in working with PMC.
I am so excited and greatly appreciate the Gift Certificate for the new tools, which gives me the opportunity to expand my skill and creative ability. I can’t wait to try and narrow down which of all the Cool Tools to pick, which will help me have lots of fun playing while teaching and creating.”
After every purchase at Cool Tools, you receive an email asking you to take a survey to tell us about your shopping experience. Your comments help us understand how we can improve and expand for you. A winner is selected every month. Keep offering us your thoughts and help us congratulate Deb this month!
Congratulations to Beth Ward, the winner of our April Random Review Contest. Beth has won a $100 Cool Tools gift certificate for reviewing a set of SuperFlex polishers. Beth said “Love them! I tried these at a friend’s house, and knew I needed the whole set. They save so much time and give such a professional result!”
Beth was excited and told us a little about herself:
“I make jewelry of just about every type. I’m learning to make glass beads, because I couldn’t find what I was looking for to go with my PMC focals. I’ve been selling my jewelry for the past few years, ever since my husband informed me I wouldn’t live long enough to wear all the things I’d made. Glass and PMC3 are my passion.
I found your company the same week I took my first metal clay class. I’ve never taken another one, mainly because there is so much to learn on the Cool Tools site there was no need. I find it a joy to write the reviews, because I love this company. Everything I’ve ever ordered was above and beyond my expectations.
I don’t know how to tell you how excited I am about winning! I’m not even sure how to spend it, other than I’m most excited because I get to spend time on your website shopping! I love this site, and recommend it to everyone I meet who uses metal clay. I always think there is nothing that could be done to improve my shopping experiences with you, and then I go back on and it’s all better than ever before! Mardel does such a great job with the instructions, and the products have made my life so much easier.
Thanks so much for making it a joy in a tough economy to spend money!”
