Mega Tiles are a new Cool Tools exclusive and are designed to be perfect for projects both large and small.

All New Mega Tiles

Mega Tiles are basically our popular Texture Tiles, just quite a bit bigger. Mega Tiles measure 9 ¼” x 6“ and are about 7 times larger than Texture Tiles. Just like our TTLs, they are flexible, washable and can be used with any soft clay. It has never been easier to roll out your clay textures. No matter what you are working on, Mega Tiles are sure to be perfect for your next project.

Mega Tiles work just like our Texture Tiles. Spritz them with Cool Slip, and begin designing. Our Rolling Frames pair excellent with Mega Tiles. The entire frame sits comfortably on the Mega Tile so there is no rocking or searching for additional textures to hold and level your frames. Since there is plenty of real estate on these tiles, it allows you pick your favorite part of the texture and comfortably design your piece. Mega Tiles are ideal for all metal clay projects, ceramic and porcelain clay projects, and designing with any type of polymer clay. Never be limited again by the size of your texture.

Cool Tools carries a wide array of Mega Tile designs, including some of our most popular textures, as well as new exciting and exclusive designs. Try our new Cool Tools Mega Tiles today and see how these roomy new textures are perfect for projects both large and small.

Check out our new Mega Tile video to see how versatile the new textures can be!

Introducing our new collection of Fretz products featuring beautiful hammers, unique forming stakes, and versatile bench anvils.

Fretz Hammers, Stakes, and Anvils

Fretz products are unlike any tool you have ever seen or held before. Only when you’re working with a Fretz product can you fully appreciate the quality, strength and versatility. These products help you form, shape and design sensational jewelry.

Fretz hammers are the best quality jeweler’s hammers and each one is specifically designed to make your designing easier. Each hammer features a head made of 420 stainless steel, and beautiful handles made from Padauk wood. These hammers are light weight, but strong, and very versatile. Cool Tools carries a variety of Fretz hammers, like your standard planishing, embossing and raising hammers for doming, smoothing and raising metals. We also carry a collection of specialty hammers including the Fretz Insert Hammer, Fretz Jeweler’s Sledge Hammer, and several Fretz Texturing Hammers. A quality jeweler’s hammer can help your projects come out just the way you want. Having a specialty hammer, perfect for the job at hand, can make your designing much easier.

Fretz miniature metalsmithing forming stakes are also made of hardened 420 stainless steel and feature highly polished surfaces. The miniature stakes are used to form bracelets, pendants, bezels or to form hollow back rings. They can be used to perform other metalsmithing tasks, but on a much smaller scale. These stakes are to be used with the Fretz H-1 stake holder (HOL-112). Easily mount the holder on your bench and swap out stakes quickly and easily.

Fretz bench anvils are perfect for bench jewelers. You can form or texture flat or curved jewelry and metal on the anvil. The wooden base dampens the noise and the rubber feet keep the anvil from slipping. These stunning anvils are also highly polished and made of 420 stainless steel and Padauk wood.

With a Fretz hammer, stake, or anvil, form not only meets function, it meets beauty as well.

Watch our 3 new Fretz videos to learn how to use these beautiful hammers, forming stakes, and bench anvils.

Introducing our astonishing new assortment of Royal Imperial Jasper, Boulder Opal, Laguna Lace Agate, and Blue Apatite featuring all new colors, patterns, shapes and cuts!

Blue Apatite is a beautiful and unique stone, usually green, but it can also be blue, yellow, reddish-brown, violet, yellow-green, colorless or multicolored. Although classified as a single mineral, it is actually three different minerals. Apatite is a stone that can stimulate thoughts and ideas. It is said to increase intellect, imagination, and intuitive awareness.  Apatite is found in Africa, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Myanmar, Russia, Spain, and the U.S.A. Laguna Lace Agate is onNew Natural Gemstonese of the most highly praised banded agate in the world. It is known for its extremely tight banding and vibrant shades of red and scarlet. Laguna Lace Agate is found in an area covering roughly four square miles in a remote mountain range in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. Boulder Opal is one of the most valuable varieties of opal. Fine specimens of Boulder Opal are able to exhibit all of the spectral colors through its distinct play of color. Boulder Opal is found embedded into large boulders of ironstone, which is how it earned its name. Occurring as pebble rock, precious opal develops within thin veins, fissures and hollows. As opal minors attempt to remove the embedded opal from the ironstone, some of the host matrix is preserved during the process. For this reason, Boulder Opal is sometimes referred to as ‘Opal in matrix’. The ironstone matrix enhances the stones durability and vibrancy of color, often increasing the desirable colors and opalescence. Royal Imperial Jasper ranges in color from light greens and yellows to bright oranges and burgundies. The beautiful patterns and colors offer a unique look unlike any other stone. This gemstone supposedly helps to reduce insecurities and fears while providing protection.

These beautiful gemstones offer a unique and sophisticated look and will be the perfect centerpiece for your next jewelry project. Combine these stones with our huge selection of settings, earwires and bezel wire to make new jewelry pieces like no other.

Each image is the individual stone you will receive. Pick out the perfect one for you. Hurry, these gemstones will not last! Do not wait; get these new stones while you still can.

Congratulations to Francesca Boone, the winner of the Cool Tools Random Review Contest for February. Francesca has won a $100 gift certificate for reviewing her Oval Pairs Jewelry Shape Template. Francesca gave our templates a great review saying, “These are lovely shapes. They are smaller than I thought they’d be. Very versatile however.”

Francesca was excited about being the February winner:

Francesca Boone“I was VERY excited (and GRATEFUL)  to get your email.  My current “love” is working with Precious Metal Clay.  I love it because it’s easy, it’s quick and almost anything becomes inspiration for a new piece.

I have just moved to FL from McKinney, TX.  I am busy creating new pieces as most of my current work is at a newly opened store in McKinney, TX called Art On The Veranda, which carries local artists work. I mentioned “current” because like many artist, it’s never just one thing that grabs our attention.  I have received awards, and have been published for my porcelain painting. I have created stained glass pieces and many other artistic creations….but PMC has held my heart the longest.

Nature is perhaps my biggest inspiration.  My husband laughs at me sometimes, when he sees me stop to study something on our walks.  Sometimes it’s a particularly textured leaf, sometimes a texture in the concrete, or sidewalk, sometimes a bud from a Crepe Myrtle or the way the light plays off of a building….it’s all inspiration.

I purchased some Stalactite gemstones from Cool Tools which will be in my next pieces.  Since I now live in “Gator” land, I am trying to keep that in mind when designing a new piece.  The Stalactite gemstone will have a alligator texture backing.  I have also purchased (from COOL TOOLS, of course) some orange and blue gemstone (UF colors) which I will be embedding in earrings.

What is there not to love about creating with precious metal clay? I also cannot imagine a source better than COOLTOOLS to be MY source for everything I need to make beautiful jewelry. I received my PMC certification from a senior artist in NYC,  Vera Lightstone many years ago. I was born in Rome Italy have lived all over the world and speak several languages fluently.  I have two adult sons who live in NJ.

Thank you again!

Francesca Boone

PS: If you’re curious about my porcelain, please feel free to “Google” my name~typically the first thing that comes up is an image of a piece that won a bronze ribbon in an International competition and an article I wrote to accompany the photo as it was published in the IPAT publication.”

After every purchase, you have the opportunity to review your products. Your reviews help fellow jewelry artists better understand the products we offer. You can review any product by simply going to the product page and clicking “write a review”. Each review gives you an entry into our review contest.  Help us congratulate Francesca!
